James A. Funk

James brings more than 15 years of experience at the intersection of law, business, contracting, negotiation and executive leadership to his legal practice. Before entering private practice, James held senior executive, contracting and operational leadership positions with major healthcare organizations, where he negotiated sophisticated commercial agreements, managed complex business relationships, advised senior leadership on contractual and operational risk, and led multidisciplinary teams responsible for contracting, procurement, compliance, strategic sourcing, logistics and other business functions.

Today, James draws on that experience in a practice focused on family law, wills and incapacity planning, business and commercial transactions and alternative dispute resolution. He provides his clients with practical counsel on a variety of legal matters, always seeking to first understand the underlying interests, financial considerations and long-term objectives of the parties to inform the development of practical solutions that protect their interests while allowing them to move forward.

James earned his J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law, his M.B.A. from Marylhurst University, and his B.A. from Michigan State University. He is licensed to practice law in Oregon and Iowa (inactive). James currently serves as President of the Jackson County Bar Association, as a member of the Oregon State Bar Ethics Committee, and as a Court-Appointed Arbitrator for the Jackson County Circuit Court.
